Wadfile Runner and Developer V2 By Nightmare This program was designed to make it easy and quick to use HEXEN to its full potential in terms of external wadfiles. Its many feature is that it acts like a librarian which looks after your wad files. It allows you to catagorise your wadfile collection letting you choose the exact type of level you wish to use each time you play DOOM. All you have to do is to place the wadfile in the WADS directory and run HWAD.BAT as if you were going to play the level but you will be asked if you want to catagoris it and then you will be given a list of catagories, select one and your wad is safely filed away. It takes care of all the type needed to run HEXEN with the command lines by condensing them in to a set of simple and easy to use switches: l - lists the wadfiles contained in %WADPATH% t - edit/create textfile m - modem [(C)all or (W)ait] [phone number(if Calling)] [(D)eathmatch or (C)o-op] [level[XX]] [wadfile] eg. For a modem game on deathmatch on map 1 where you were calling you would type: HWAD m c 012345678 d 01 If you just wanted to play a wad you would type: HWAD wadname This program also allows you to create textfiles for you wads using a template that included in this package. To use it fill in the details of your favouite editor at the top of the batchfile in the place provided then use the t switch and the template will be loaded leaving you just to fill in the gaps and save the file. Once your textfile is made it will be displayed every time you run the wadfile. I also had modems in mind when writing this program. I included a special switch which allows modem owners to play over the phone with the same ease as just playing on their own computer. For the best use I recommend that your friend that you play with uses a copy of this program to insure no "Consistance Errors". To setup your modem port just type COM number (eg. COM1) and the IQR number (eg. 4) into the space provided in the batchfile. TROUBLE SHOOTING. As far as I know there is only one problem with this progra mand it is due to a lack of memory. If you get a list of "Insuffient Environment Space" when you run the program you may be experiencing this problem and the program will fail at some point. To solve this problem run your system on a boot disk or an alternative setup that gives you the maximum memory possible. I have not tested this program in DOS mode in WIN95 but I imagine if you can run HEXEN then you can run this. Copyrights and Disclaimers.
