9/06/94 10:22pm *** DOOM LoadeR 3.0 *** This frontend program for DOOM 1.666 will replace SETUP.EXE with a more powerful, faster, smaller launcher for serial and solo games. DLR takes only 80 bytes away from your DOOM sessions and is completely 1.666 ready. DLR now uses response files so it is no longer compatible with DOOM v1.2, but v1.666 is out so who cares! DLR requirements are as follows - * Registered DOOM or DOOM ][ * Be in the main DOOM/DOOM][ directory DLR is used with the arrow & enter keys. You select an option by using the arrow keys, then you can either enter that menu by pressing enter or change that option by using the left & right arrows. Any reference to a "list" (ex. "Delete PWADs from list") means the Tagged PWADs list, which is a list of all WADs that DOOM will be run with. If for any reason DLR is not doing a command line parameter, or you want to run an alternate .exe file for sersetup or doom, you can press the F2 key at the main menu to access the SETUP for DLR. There you can type any additional command line parameters or change the command line for launching DOOM. Below is a list of some DLR features : * Incredibly easy to use keyboard interface! * Support for single play, direct link, or modem. (network to be added if assisted by users; I lack access to a network) * All commands + Timer + Fast + Turbo + Baud (9600, 14400, 19200, 38400, 57600) + Episode + Level start (warp) + Skill levels 1-5 + monsters : on/off/respawn + Coop, DeathMatch, DeathMatch 2.0 + Response files + Com Port + can't remember anymore... :) * Loads Saved games + allows you to select the saved game by description & number * External WAD support + WAD database of 140 entries including filename, path (so you can have a seperate WAD directory), note (4 characters, can be used for ExMx where applicable), and a 58 character description of the file allows you to select your "favorite" WADs without any hassle and helps you remember which WADs are which with your own description. + Directory browsing - easy to use interface allows you to search all hard disks and directories for WAD files and then you may... = View all replaced levels if applicable = Add the WAD file to the current WAD list = Add the WAD file to the DataBase + Load up to 30 WADs simultanously; talk about multiple wads + Edit your tagged WAD list to delete individual entries * LMP support + Maxdemo parameter for resetting maximum buffer size + Can record LMP files + Playback LMP files = Directory browsing allows you to search all drives and directories for LMP files to playback (shall I add support for internal files DEMOx ?) * Dialing Directory + Up to 10 dialing directory entries with phone number and description to make calling regular opponents easily * DLR saves ALL data in its configuration. Tagged WADs, Database, dialing directory, game type, level, episode, skill level... well you get the picture it saves everything (Except for lmp stuff I don't think you want it recording lmps w/o you knowing it). * DLR IS NOT BLOATED. Its not another 200k .exe to load DOOM... DLR's size *including a large internal cfg file (15k+)* is below 46k in uncompressed format (well sort of). To use DLR, run the included .exe file once to create the launch file. You can then type DLR. DLR will automatically distinguish between DOOM and DOOM ][ and will provide necessary changes along with a distinct color change. *****((((( Version History )))))***** 3.0 - Third release, all known bugs fixed, DOOM ][ level names included and new -timer option included (Only for DOOM ][, DOOM users please use the F2 key, unsupported command to use this option). 2.2i - Internal version ONLY!
