******************************************* * Patch for A L I E N I N V A S I O N * ******************************************* This is a patch that should fix the problem that is associated with certain early versions of Doom2 1.666, where the screen garbles up into a big pile of muck when you enter a level. With some help from numerous people - sorry I can't remember everyone who helped(but thanx!) - I was able to trace it to being a problem that exists with DeHacked 3.0 and how it works with this particualar version of Doom. The weird thing is that some copies of Doom2 1.666 actually work and others didn't. This patch should work for all versions of Doom2 - I hope.... I haven't had a chance to fully test this patch - I've been really busy with my band and with converting this thing to Quake(!) and I keep forgetting to bring a copy of the patch home with me to test it on my machine at home (I don't have a sound card on my machine here), so there may be some sound related bugs or others as well. If anyone finds anything that seems kind of weird, I.E baron frames popping up when an alien attacks or wierd sounds, etc.) I would love to hear some feedback so that I can fix the problems... Thanx to everyone who helped me trace this problem with DeHacked, and keep a lookout for A L I E N Quake, which should be coming in a few months (I already uploaded a xenomorph model - ftp.cdrom. com:/pub/idgames2/graphics/mdl and it can also be found on the Quake Grinder homepage and some other sites as well - so you can get an idea of what this thing will look like. Oh yeah...To use this patch you must have already installed AlienV, and then just unzip this file and type 'vfix'.....
