ALIENS DOOM 3 Aliens vs. Predator (new title) Screenshot collection #9: "Predators" by Michael Gummelt (gummelt@pegasus.montclair.edu) A work in progress... Here is a collection of 4 screenshots from Aliens Doom 3. The new additions are two types of predators, replacing the large alien that shot tracking spitballs at you (that never made sense to me anyway). The first type of predator has green/brown skin and throws tracking discs at you. The second type of predator is cloaked most of the time and fires extremely dangerous plasma bolts at you. You can see him when he gets hit and when he gets killed. Aside from that, he goes in and out of cloak sproadically (mostly cloaked). But you can always see the flash when he fires. When killed, both will laugh and then explode sending flames everywhere. The file is about 86k Here is a description of each screenshot: 1. A brown predator approaching me. Note the double pistols (homage to John Woo), Ripley's face, the facehugger specimen, and Kane (from Alien) facehugged on the floor. 2. Nailing a cloaked predator, notice the crackle as the cloak fails and the glowing green blood. In the background, you can see another marine taking a shot at a brown (disc-throwing) predator. 3. A great screenshot! Here you can see a disc tracking me down and a plasma bolt being fired by one of the yellow cloaking predators. 4. Again, a cloaked predator being nailed by an explosion. Much carnage abounds, notice a green spitter, a couple facehuggers, and a spitter carcass in the frame. These screen shots are from a level I just threw together just to have an all-out no-holds-barred battle. I tested every enemy and marine, every weapon, and most of the shootable objects to see if it would crash. Not once. And I might add, the predators kick ass. In the end, though, the only one left standing is invariably the Queen (not pictured here). WE WANT YOU!!! To help in the creation of the most exciting Doom wad/patch ever (I hope!) Here's what I need help on: 1. Level builders! I love Hacking, but when it comes to building levels, I'm still learning. If there are any experienced level builders out there who would like to take a shot at it, I'll send you a beta version with full documentation as well of the levels I have planned. You are welcome to implement any of my levels or make up your own. 2. Deluxe Paint. Help! I had Deluxe Paint on my Amiga and loved it. I have not been able to find it for the IBM or even a comparable paint program. I don't like object-oriented paint programs (Corel Draw, etc) and I have Paint Shop Pro 3.0, but it doesn't have animation or stencil features. Any help pointing me in the right direction for shareware/freeware or even a commercial version of Deluxe Paint for the IBM an equivalent would be extremely helpful. The game's graphics will be a lot cooler and the game will probably be done sooner. Also, I'd love to have some Adobe Paint compatible plug-ins. Any and all comments and suggestions... I already got some great ones from Brandon Riegg. His suggestion was to allow the player to choose which marine they wanted to play (Ripley, Hudson, Hicks, Vasquez, etc). So as you can see, feedback is constructive!
