Exam file name : D2V6MET.ZIP Title conquered : DOOM 2 Velox Author : Mike Toliver Completion date : 1997 07 27 Game and version used : DOOM2 v. 1.9 Log entry: 19970715 2121 CHAL: D2V6 MET 30 26 06 (00) 19970715 2121 : Mike E Toliver System used : 486 DX2 66, with SB clone, for map26 and map30. P166 with no sound card for map06. 486 DX 33 with no sound card for free. Controls used : keyboard only, default configuration. Free interpretation : Map 07 Comments : I used the faster system for map 06, but I don't think using a faster system necessarily contributes much to one's success, especially without a sound card. This was much tougher than d1v6. I did all of the maps without dying after the dance. Map 30 - I know most of you think this is an easy map, but it's the one that gave me the most trouble. I haven't played it very much until I got this challenge. Time: 1:46 on a PAR of 3:00 Map 26 - This isn't too bad, especially since the PAR is so long (5:00). My time is 4:44 due to some fumbling around. I've played this map even less than Map 30. The finish is a killer. Map 06 - Even though this is the "hard" part of my exam, I found this to be much simpler than map 30. Why? I've played this map a lot. Time: 2:16 PAR: 2:30 Free - Map 07. A favorite of many because of the non-stop action and the necessity to kill everyone to get out. This is not the fastest run of Map 07, but it's worth watching because 1) I did the dance and the level in 2:00 without dying after the dance 2) I did the level on a slow machine without a sound card 3) I did the level without using the soul sphere or the berserk pack. This is my fourth DHT6 title. I also have six DHT5 titles. Thanks to Frank for coming up with this, Dave Ryding for corrupting me with this insane game and teaching me how to play it. Dave helped me a lot on Map 30. Maybe I'll learn to like that map!
