Exam file name : D1T6SRU.ZIP Title conquered : DOOM 1 Tyson Author : Steffen "Rini" Udluft Completion date : 1997 08 11 Game and version used : ULTIMATE DOOM v. 1.9 Log entry : - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 19970505 1216 USER: SRU Steffen Rini Udluft 19970505 1216 : LRL-FFF-LLF rini@mppmu.mpg.de 19970709 2043 CHAL: D1T6 SRU 11 13 36 (00) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - System used : P150+ 6x86/120 Mhz, PCI bus graphics (ATI Mach 64), or 80486 DX-2/80, VESA Local Bus, Soundblaster Pro clone, headphones Controls used : keyboard only, with everything redefined as follows: D: fire A: strafe left S: strafe right SHIFT: speed on SPACE: use Free interpretation : ep3 w/o e3m1 using only the BIG weapons (5 & 7) Comments : I only once played tyson before as I made e2m2 fist only just for fun. My boxing has always been terrible (at least much worse than poeppy's). But the doom levels are so easy that I strongly believed I could do it. And I did. BTW: I don't recommend these tyson-beginners lmps for watching. Check out my d2t6 exam for better tyson performance. e1m1: "Hangar" (e1m1-t.lmp) Ok, that's no typical tyson level, it's too easy and too short. Time 1:39 e3m6: "Mt. Erebus" (e3m6-t.lmp) I did the "hard" level before the medium one. This is my first "real" tyson recording. But beeing a tyson beginner I don't use the berzerk when beeing vulnerable. I let the monsters kill _ALL_ lost souls and I use the pistol on the baron. I really had no plan what to do, so this isn't recommended to watch, besides if you want to see how this level is done the chicken way :) Once I'm down on only 10% health and act very nervous. I end with no remaining bullet. Dance is right after I've killed the first shotgunner. Time 21:10 e1m3: "Toxin Refinery" (e1m3-t.lmp) For me this was no easier than e3m6 and I had to learn some basic tyson skills like boxing demons non-berzerk and saving bullets. I didn't know the level in detail, so I saved much more bullets than necessary and end it with 113 bullets left and 200% health. Time 22:10 free: (ep3-big.lmp) I tried to play the exact opposite of tyson as free interpretation: I don't go for 100% kills, but under par instead. I don't use the "small weapons" 1 & 2, but the BIG ones 5 & 7 instead. Level 1 of episode 3 cannot be played this way so I started in level 2. e3m2: I take the plasmagun for an extra BFG shot later on. Time 0:27 Par 0:45 e3m3: The way back from the blue key isn't too easy without weapons. But then I get the BFG ... Time 1:21 Par 1:30 e3m4: ... and the rocketlauncher too, but ammo is short making it again not too easy. Time 1:37 Par 2:30 e3m5: No need to waste ammo, played it pacifist. Time 0:51 Par 1:30 e3m6: plenty of ammo to get easily Time 0:34 Par 1:30 e3m9: now I've got more rockets than I ever will need. And, ooops I tried to fire the BFG without plasma, the doom engine changed to the chain- gun automatically and I fired some bullets - sorry. Please don't be too pedantic, it really didn't help me anything and I don't want to record this again. Time 1:55 Par 2:15 e3m7: a walk in the park with that much ammo. Time 2:15 Par 2:45 e3m8: BFG ends it quickly Time ?:?? Par ?:?? Note: the BIG weapon style is no good idea for making a new DHT title ;-) Author info : Hmmm, what more can I tell you? I live in a rather small town near Munich in Germany. A few years ago I was addicted to chess, now it's doom, don't know what it will be in a few years from now (maybe raising kids ???). I guess (and hope so), that whatever it will be poeppy will share this new addiction with me ... Btw: I hate agression and violence - in the real world (the one without pixels, you know?)
