Get one! Yes, the odd-shaped one). Controls used : keyboard + mouse, with everything redefined as follows: Keyboard: R: fire E: backwards W: fast (run) SPACE: use Mouse: 1: forward 2: strafe I devised this setup almost a year ago now, after an initial DOOM career as a keyboard-only player. Several other people I introduced to the game have adopted it since. Its main advantages over the default are that the left hand rests more comfortably on the keyboard (you do feel the difference after several hours of play!) and that the weapons are available by touch-typing. Its only drawback became apparent when I entered a tournament in London and discovered that, when there is a fourth (red) player, the R key (fire) stops working because it sends messages to red. Ouch. To cure this, be the red player yourself. Free interpretation : MAP27-UV (Monster Condo). 100% kills, maximum health and armour even with several goodies (including 2 berserk packs and all the invisibility balls) left unused. MAP27 has long been a favourite of mine; I think it's a rather hard level because it's huge and it's got many dangerous "death zones", even near the end. To finish this level with maximum health and armour I had to plan my route and weapon usage very carefully. In case you don't know how to do it, I show how to get into the super-secret "30 seconds room" at the beginning. The dance is just after this. Note that this is one of the few maps that still have the secrets bug: you can't get 100% secrets because one of the secret sectors is a teleporter (the one at the end of the long row of health potions) and you can't ever get into that sector because you teleport away as soon as you hit the boundary linedef. Comments : MAP03-UV (The Gantlet) This is an easy one and there is nothing special worth noting about it. MAP25-UV (Bloodfalls) I think this one is rather hard if you do the North arm first (which is what I used to do). When I tried doing the South-East arm first, I found it much more manageable. Doing it this way, there's far more ammo than I can use. The dance is near the beginning, after I've killed the soldiers behind the first bloodfall. MAP19-UV (The Citadel) This one has a difficult beginning and then several places with far too many demons / spectres, but apart from that it's not too bad; the difficulty comes mostly from the fact that it's long. In a few occasions I miss a jump and I have to redo it, which makes me feel a bit silly. The dance is near the beginning, just after I'm out of the range of the arachnotron. I had done most of this a month ago; but when I sat down to record the FREE lmp, after several hours of play the final lmp I got wouldn't replay correctly! This pissed me off a lot so I went home to bed and abandoned the exam stuff for a while. Never found out why it failed. Today I retried and everything worked. Hmmm... Author info : As you may know, I created the DHT system, which should give you an idea of my level of addiction for DOOM. I've finally found a regular and easily accessible deathmatch opponent, so I can get my daily fix of 15-30 minutes of furious deathmatch.
