I started with episode 3 on lightning as my free, but I decided that e2 is harder so I did it instead. Comments: this title should be under par on ultraviolence, it's far too easy on HMP. I substitute for e3m5 to make this exam harder and more fun. After completing Incubus, hurt me plenty is like "no monsters." The piggies actually give me time to blink. lmp level time par e1m6-hmp e1m6 2:58 3:00 e3m4-hmp e3m4 1:37 2:30 e2m6-hmp e2m6 3:13 6:00 e3m7-hmp e3m7 2:16 2:45 e3m9-hmp e3m9 2:10 2:15 free e2m1 1:15 1:30 e2m2 1:21 1:30 e2m3 1:02 1:30 e2m4 1:22 2:00 e2m5 1:07 1:30 e2m9 1:07 2:50 e2m6 4:23 6:00 e2m7 2:48 4:00 e2m8 ----- ------ e3m9-hmp.lmp- first try. I do the dance. I finish with 200% health, 100% armor, and take no damage. e1m6-hmp.lmp- this is the only one which took me numerous tries to finish under par. the part that slows me down the most is waiting for that damn door to open after I get the red key. as it is I make it in just under 3:00. I recorded one demo where I hit it at exactly 3:00, but I knew could save 1 or 2 seconds somehow so I redid it. this is the hardest level in the hard set. I do the dance, even though this is instant carnage. e3m4-hmp.lmp- first try. why is this in the hard set? I do the dance, treating this as peaceful start. e3m7-hmp.lmp- first try. it really isn't that exciting. this is instant carnage so I skip the dance (for once). e2m6-hmp.lmp- I had never tried this under par until this exam. this one is definitely too easy for the hard set. you get six minutes to finish it! Author info: Doom 1 Master, Doom 1 Incubus. comment on the level sets for Speedy Gonzales: IMHO, there should be no levels designated as "hardest," especially for Hurt Me Plenty. Both E1M7 and E1M9 are just as hard as E1M6 (in fact I think 16 is harder than these two, the above demo was my best performance on 16 in about 10 tries. For 17 and 19 I can finish with 10- 15 seconds to spare), and therefore, really belong in the hard set. E3M2 and E3M6 both belong in the easiest set (and maybe E3M5, too). E3M2 can be done easily in 30 seconds on UV, on HMP it's a joke. E3M5 can be completed Tyson style in well under a minute- way too easy. For E3M6 the invulnerabilities can carry you through to the secret exit or the regular one. E3M4 and E3M9 should probably go in the easy set based on the "invulnerability factor" as well. E2M6 and E2M7 both need to be bumped down to the medium set; the par times are so long that completing them on HMP is much easier than E1M6. However, I would agree more with the sets as they are now, if they had to be completed on UV. Personally, I think rather than redefining the level sets, the upgrade to UV would really show who's a Speedy Gonzales.
