My record is 11. Watch the LMP to see how this is done. Comments: This title deserves it's classification of Epic. Requiring around 40 minutes of LMP time, and lots of practice, this is a truly Epic undertaking. Unlike the Swarzenegger(sp) title, which I personally believe is near-impossible (as it should be), the Lightning title is easily within grasp. I found the hardest episode to be episode 1, with episode 2/3 sharing second place. Three important things must be followed for any chance at doing this stunt: 1) the speed key must always be on, slowpokes should stick to the easiest difficulty level; 2) have a clear plan of the shortest routes to your objectives, and run like hell to them, 3) shoot only what you must, basically, what gets in your way, and any Shotgun Charlies. The worst baddie is the Shotgun Charlie (Shotgun Dude), since no matter what crazy manoever you may be doing, if he gets a shot off, you are almost guaranteed to lose health, and when there are hundreds of them (as in Episode #1), this can cumulate to fatal levels. I found the hardest levels to be 15, 16, 17. All three require you to shoot >50% of the monsters (15 requires >70%), and running through most of the level. 15 is the worst, since the slightest diversion, or the extra round fired can cost you the extra seconds that push you over 2:44 (must be UNDER par). 16 is OK, if you use the trick to keep the 30 second door open (manoever a baddie under the door, then trip it, the door hits the baddie then goes back up, otherwise you're traped for 30 seconds). 17 is like 15, but not too bad with the right equipment, the right weapon choices, and knowing where to go. Episode 2 and 3 are easy in comparison, and if this title changes from Once Only (which I HIGHLY recommend), these are the ones to do, unless you're a massochist(sp), and like to re-record a 15 minute demo many, many, many times. PS: Some info was ommited from my D1GM free LMP description. Both my D1M and my D1GM free lmps were E2M2 with fists only. But D1GM free LMP was done with FAST monsters (at the time I did not realize that free lmps could be non-theme, so I thought this was assumed). D1M was done regular speed. No, I am not so lame as to do identical Free LMPs for both my D1M and D1GM exams. Sorry for any misunderstandings caused by this.
