Done by the skin on my teeth, the way a free should be. Comments: Okay, first of all I must apologize to all who downloaded my first Incubus exam and noticed that my out of base level was in fact done under ultra violence instead of nightmare. No, I'm not that cheap, let me explain. Before I begin work on a nightmare demo, I record several possible routes to get an idea of the kind of resistence to expect, where the monsters aggregate, and so forth. Somehow, one of these got mixed up with my actual nightmare demo and that one got submitted. My sincere apologies for this idiotic mishap on my part. Now that I'm done grovelling, let's get down to the business at hand. This is my second title, and my first advanced that I've been able to complete. I've done a Tyson a while ago, but I was unable to expand the base given the levels that do remain. :-( So, I though I'd develop my skills at nightmare. Overall, I'm just glad I didn't get something really terrible from the hard set like E1M9 or E1M3 (but I did have some real promising tries with E1M5, but that's hell too). E2M3 was too easy for hard though. E3M3 and E2M3 in my humble opinion should trade places in the base. E2M8- Just arc around the overgrown man-goat and dodge those damned rockets. I killed all the lost souls in the level and since they don't respawn it was just cleanup. Things went well, though some skulls gave me a big headache. E3M3- Instead of finishing the level by it's shortest variant (get the blue key and run for the exit) I decided not to play it safe. That is, I make a beeline for the chaingun and then shoot my way through to the blue key. Then it's fun making all the imps splatter with a fully loaded BFG, but it did get hairy when the invunerability sphere ran out on me. E2M3- Things went okay here, but I did take some unnecessary damage due to rather reckless use of plasma. That and for some reason at the end I decided to kill the cacodemon with the shotgun. Maybe that wasn't such a safe idea, but it did turn out rather amusing so I kept it and moved on. E4M4- After trying the opening yourself, you my think I'm either nuts or a total jerk for putting this in the easy set, but if you make it past the opening it's totally easy going from there. The best way to open (or the way that worked for me anyhow) is to open the first door and let the spectre on the left come at you, but the imp on the lift will fire and if your timing is right should hit the spectre. Then run for the lift, leaning torwards the right, then once you're on it, lean to the left and shoot whatever is hurting you. But the success ratio to that was about 20% for me, but after that it was a no-brainer. It may look like I don't know where I'm going. That was the Jolt Cola kicking in. I'm sorry that my movement was sloppy compared to the rest, but I really can't stand this level now. E2M1- I know it's only a medium, but it's so much fun! With monsters on steriods it's rock and roll. I won't say much other than I'm usually close to death going through this. It was entirely on purpose. I follow Steffen Winterfeldt's plan as shown in his D1S exam. While I'm on the subject, download his jaw-dropping 30NM6520 from COMPET-N right NOW! Author info: Just another student hacker. I'm not terribly interesting, but I have a dual major of mathematics and physics and once in a while author a short story. Some PC games really seem to fascinate me, like DOOM and the Wing Commander trilogy. I've been skydiving, bungie jumping, mountain biking, and camping in some remote places, but just give me an internet connection and place to stay, and I'm happy enough.
