Exam file name : D1GM-MET.ZIP Title conquered : DOOM 1 Grand Master Author : Mike Toliver Completion date : Dec. 12, 1996 Game and version used : Ultimate Doom v. 1.9 Log entry : CHAL: D1GM MET Mike Toliver 12 21 48 FLR-LFL-RRL : Mike Toliver Substitutions? : N/A System used : 486 DX2 66, 8 megs ram. Video Cirrus VGA, 1 meg video RAM, Sound 144AM Controls used : Keyboard (default) Addition to Base : e4m6, Hard Free interpretation : Episode 1, tyson style, up to e1m6 Comments : e1m2 - I got off to a real bad start here - down to 4% health before I was even out of the starting gate. Made this level pretty interesting. Once I got past that, it was clear sailing. : e2m1 - This one was pretty easy. I got past the former humans w/o a scratch at the start. : e4m8 - A pretty tough level all right. Took me about 15 tries. I am super cautious in this one, so there are a number of pauses while I consider my options. I got surprised by a Baron and a Lost Soul at the end when I was making sure I had all the secrets and entered the transporter from the spider room, but fortunately I had the BFG ready and they started fighting each other. : e4m6 - Man, if e4m8 was hard, this was REALLY hard. Took me about a week and a half of spending entirely too much time on this, but I did it. I get "DooM Disease" - after so many SOOO CLOSE attempts I get more and more cautious, so this doesn't have the action one would like. Particularly true in the yellow key area, where I wait for the Cacodemons to fight the Baron (if you wait long enough, you can get all three Caco's in there). Still, I made it, and I never thought I would, especially since I have rarely played episode 4 and both e4m6 and e4m8 were my first ever attempts under DHT rules (start from scratch, etc.) If you want more action, see the excellent demo by Peo Sjoblom. : Free - I had e-mailed Frank asking permission to do an episode of the original DooM tyson style instead of doing an addition to base, since I dreaded doing e4m6. Before I got a reply, I decided to try e4m6 anyway. This is one of my more interesting attempts at a tyson episode. I have a couple where I get farther (about 1/4 of the way through e1m7), but this one is more fun Author info : This is my sixth title (I already have D1M, D1SG, D1T, D2M, D2SG). Currently working on 4 other titles (I'll probably never finish them all).
