============================================================================= Title : Littlefang v2.0 Filename : LITLFANG.WAD + FANG_SND.WAD + FANG_G.WAD Author : Jesse Nutter Email Address : Jnutter@nero.uvic.ca Misc. Author Info : This is my second wad, of many... I am a sci-fi/fantasy writer and avid Dungeons and Dragons player so I had to make a castle of my own design. I also run the Dungeons of Doom website and welcome any Deathmatch challenges that come my way... oh yeah, in my spare time I try to work on my bachelor degree... on my breaks between editing and node-building... Description : Littlefang. First stop on your journey to the Planes of Desolation. A lone wooden keep stands at the center of a grass-covered slab of rock that floats through an endless cloudy sky. The gate that brought you here closes behind you with a familiar flash of green light. You know what your mission is: Find the master of the keep, the Arch-Duke of Vileness himself and destroy him. From his dead hands you must wrest the golden skull key and activate the final portal that will lead you to the Elemental Realms. You believe that portal is hidden deep underground somewhere, and is probably guarded by more than just the Duke's demonic minions. The old wizard's final advice to you was: "You shall never be alone, keep moving, and WATCH YOUR ASS!!" Design Concepts : A few definate principles went behind the creation of this wad. First, I wanted it all to be very open as well as centralized. There are few areas that cannot be reached very quickly from practically anywhere else in the wad. Secondly, I wanted it to be versatile. There are hundreds of different attack routes to choose from... the trick is to find the right one! Third I wanted the basic structure of the wad to suit Deathmatch maneuvers. I believe I have achieved all this and way more. This wad is amazing for Deathmatch competitions, just the way it's built inspires players to try out moves they never would have imagined before. I seriously recommend mouse play... but that's a matter of preference. Additional Credits to : Shaun Lederhaus For providing me with a constant source of inspiration with the crazy things he was always trying to do in his wads! Also my most diligent playtester ("I'm addicted to this wad!") and the only man besides myself to pass it on UV. My Playtesters: Shawn Gerty, Mike Johnston, and Joshua Ransen. My wife, Ilana Noten, for putting up with my obsession with wad-editing. David Wexler for sounds from his WEXMAN4D.WAD... I'm not totally sure where I got all the sounds from (my DOOM II directory is kind of messy..) so if you recognize one of them: "Hey thanks for the sound man!" -from me... And, of course, the Wizards at Id for making DOOM!! ============================================================================ * Play Information * Map # : MAP01 Single Player : Good Luck on UV!! Cooperative 2-4 Player : Sure, I guess it'll work... Deathmatch 2-4 Player : YEEAAHHH!!!! (That's what I made it for!!!) Difficulty Settings : Yes** New Sounds : Yes (May be unsuitable to sensitive listeners) New Graphics : Yes (Just the title and the nude in the library) New Music : No Demos Replaced : None(check out my website for Demos) **Note about Difficulty Settings: Settings 1 & 2 are really intended for Deathmatch with monsters. There aren't enough for fun single-player action.... I seriously recommend getting to know this wad a little on skill setting 3 (Hurt Me Plenty) before taking a crack at it on UV. Skill settings 4 & 5 are intended for master Doom players and so far have only been mastered by people AFTER they learn the dynamics of the wad-space. * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Build Time : Don't bother asking (months and months...) Editor(s) used : DCK v2.2, NWT, Wintex 3.41, RMB v1.03. (DCK rules!) Known Bugs : I worked for countless hours hunting down and slaying each and every little bug in this baby... And when I found them I BLEW THEM AWAY!!! (if you find one, pleeeeease let me know about it!) * Copyright / Permissions * You MAY distribute this PWAD, provided you include this file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file intact. * Where to get this PWAD * FTP sites: ftp.cdrom.com My Webpage: http://kafka.uvic.ca/~jnutter/DoomWads.html ****Check out more Wads like this one at The Dungeons of Doom**** * Important Notes * I have named this Litlfang version 2.0 for a reason. I built this entire wad twice because the first version had to many visplanes. I was unsure what the problem was so I scrapped it and started over. Therefore I have spent countless hours tweaking this wad to perfection but as I am still just learning about wad-editing I consider this as really just the first fully playable version. If you are a wad designer and can recommend any changes or texturing tips I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. If you simply enjoyed this wad and would be interested in further versions of it keep your eye glued to my website. I see a ten-level wad in the making here... If you want to complain about having problems passing this wad on UV, you can find a demo of the author showing off his own route through the wad at my website. If you don't have any connections to the Net... GET SOME! A final note about the sounds: turn them up REAL loud when you run into the Arch-Duke! And pay attention to what the Sergeants tell you to do when you start.
