================================================================ Title : Six Skulls - Part One Filename : 6SKULS01.WAD Author : Marin Gazzari Email Address : a8731nac@pcserv.univie.ac.at Misc. Author Info : Student of Biology in Vienna, Austria with too much spare time - obviously. Would like to play more DM (who wouldn't ?) Description : Three clean deathmatch levels. -Tried my best to make them play AND look okay. Additional Credits to : The makers of DEU and DETH - IMHO the best editors for serious editing iD software Colin Reed for a great node builder Everybody else out there who writes DOOM utils or WADs Special thanks go to my girlfriend Michi for general support and help with texture choice. ================================================================ * Play Information * Game : DoomII Episode and Level # : Map02 - Map04 Single Player : Yes - the infamous trainer mode - use trainer.bat Cooperative 2-4 Player : Kinda. Coop starts exist. Deathmatch 2-4 Player : How did ya come to think of THAT ?!? Difficulty Settings : YES ! - See below New Sounds : No New Graphics : One texture New Music : No Demos Replaced : None Exits : Yes * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : DETH - the best by far! Super stable & comfortable, with the great DEU interface - lets you control every single vertex (sector draw mode - BAH !). Zennode for quick building - way fast. Colin Reed's BSP for final build - NO node bugs Deep - only once or twice to try new textures RMB for a clean reject map - you want your rockets to cause some pain, don't you ? NWT to put it all together - nice tool, thanx TIC. Known Bugs : 2 malaligned textures - find them and get your money back! No, seriously, if you find any, flame me at a8731nac@pcserv.univie.ac.at ! Skill level information : Deathmatch 2.0 is supported on all skill levels. However, the recommended mode of play is old deathmatch. Skills 1,2 & 3 have a few sarges and maybe a chaingunner running around, just in case you need even more excitement. Don't forget to set RESPAWN! On 4 & 5 there are lots of imps for single player trainer mode. Switch them off for DM. Skill 1 & 2 : Have conventional weapons only, no BFG or plasma guns. Skill 3 : Is heavy on heavy weapons: more launchers, BFG, plasma, less smaller weapons, no chainsaws you might accidentally pick up. * Skill 4 & 5 : Is what these levels were built for: A carefully selected blend of all the finest guns available for DOOMII - spicy and rich in flavour, but well balanced nevertheless. Use skill 5 on old deathmatch to get the most enjoyment and overall satisfaction ("pure family entertainment" - who said that ?). About the levels : The exits are clearly marked and have a skull texture nearby. Can't be confused with anything else. * Map02 has a very simple layout and is relatively small. -Don't miss the teleport behind the pipe texture where the launcher is. -There are also two lifts leading away from that spot. -The switch on the north wall will lower the nearby chaingun. -Down in the arena, the squares on the floor will open the next door. * MAP03 is a bit larger, but is very open and should provide very fast play. The doors can be closed, though. -To get the plasma gun, lower the metal bars in front of it and keep pressing forward, or you'll miss it. * MAP04 is the biggest of the three and is best played in 3- or 4-player games, though two players will play just fine if they don't hide all the time. -The crate with the chaingun can be lowered. -The teleporters by the BFG are kinda random - take care ! -The drain in the nukage will take you to the SSG behind the bars. * Trainer mode is a rather stupid idea: Run trainer.bat and try to kill all the monsters on the level at least twice and get all the weapons before you head for the exit. Map02 and 04 are easy, but on 03, there's nowhere you could hide - give it a try ! If I get some feedback, I might make more. I already have two very small maps nearly done, so if I get some feedback, I could finish and upload them. I'd also love to see multiplayer demos (might upload my own sometime), so record, uuencode and send off to me! Where to get this from : ftp.cdrom.com and its mirrors Thank you for playing 6skuls, I hope it was worth the download.
