=========================================================================== Archive Maintainer : Update to : Advanced engine needed : ZDoom, Boom (for memory/level size/complexity reasons, will crash most source ports, has been tested successfully with ZDoom and Boom) Primary purpose : Single+Coop play ===========================================================================Date Completed : March 1st, 2001 Title : Sacrifice in Blood Filename : sac_bld.wad Other Works : Some crap that's not worth mentioning and a really good level that never got released. Author : Gray Lancer (Jon Washburn) Email Address : webmaster@hybernation.org Web Address : http://www.hybernation.org Description : On a far away colony world, a temple was discovered which marked the border between our reality and another, far more sinister dimension which you've already been to a couple of time. We like to call that dimension "Hell." This temple, which was known as the "Temple of Water", was clean and pure, holding the evil in check. UAC sent marines and soldiers to guard it, restoring the old temple amd living there like the monks who had originally abandonded it long ago. Well, we _think_ they abandonded it... we're really not too sure, our scientists are still working on the books they've found in remarkable condition in the temple's libraries. Four days ago, the marines stationed at the temple sent out a general distress call, then the com went totally dead. Judging from past experience, things are not looking good. The UAC, reluctant to commit a whole squad to do the dirty deed, decided to sent one man in to scout the place and see what the situation was. Guess who gets the job... Hell, you did it a few times before. Once more should be no biggie... right? Word of Warning : This level is very large and very detailed. You will need a fast computer and a good source port(ZDoom or Boom) to play it. It will probably crash most source ports outright, but ZDoom and Boom are both able to handle the level. If you're wondering how large and detailed it is, here are some stats: 10,900 lines 17,904 sides 8,966 vertices 2,146 sectors 1,416 things While this level has no Boom/ZDoom-specific effects, it needs to have their ability to handle levels with assloads of sides and the like. While you might be able to get it to run in another source port, I was unable to make anything but ZDoom and Boom run it without crashing with memory errors. For those of you who are thinking "What the hell's a Zdoom?" then go to http://zdoom.notgod.com and you'll find it. IMHO, probably the best source port out there. The GL version is quite nice too. Additional Credits to : Id Software, for making Doom. The creators of WinDEU. The author of WARM. The author of Wintex. The authors of ZDoom and Boom(without which this damn level wouldn't even be possible). =============================================================== * Play Information * Game : Doom 2 IWAD, ZDoom or Boom Level # : map01 Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-4 Player : Sure, might get crowded in some spots, but if you all work together... Deathmatch 2-4 Player : The starts are there, but it won't be very fun. Difficulty Settings : Yep Note : Again, this sucker is pretty harsh on source ports due to size and complexity. New Sounds : No New Graphics : A new sky texture and a new title screen. New Music : Original music to replace map01 and the Doom 2 theme. Demos Replaced : Nah. * Construction * Base : Completely new level from scratch. Editor(s) used : WinDEU 32, WadAuthor(for one texture alignment job), Patcher(to adjust light levels for the whole level early in development), Wintex, MIDI2MUS, WARM(never fails me) Resource Editor(s) uses : Adobe Photoshop, Cakewalk Pro Build time : A goddamn long time. Probably over 30-50 hours of solid work put into this over the course of roughly a month. Known Bugs : Well, it's big so it tends to crash source ports pretty quickly, but if you run it with ZDoom/Boom you shouldn't encounter anything. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels. You may distrubute this file in any format(CD ROM, BBS, whatever)provided that you include all files included in your distribution(that would be this text file and the WAD itself, Ok?)
