This is a bowling mod for ZDoom. It's not totally finished, but I want to take a break from this, and as it's fully playable, i'm making it available to everyone. Have a play around with it and if you want to send me any comments, suggestions or bug reports I'll be happy to receive them. This contains an in-game tutorial so I won't put too much here. The only things I forgot to mention in the tutorial is that 1) you can have a maximum of the 3 of each of the power-ups stored at any one time. Any addtional power-ups obtained over this value are effectively wasted. 2) armour will absorb 1/3 of any damage taken (rounded down) I rushed the tutorial a bit so it's ropey. Game balance in terms of pin scores, power-up availabiliy, etc could probably do with a bit more fine tuning and the scripting is pitiful. These are things I can address in a future version (should i return to it). There's a slight oddity in that sometimes the odd pin seems to suffer a delayed reaction. After the bowling ball has passed a pin by it might move slightly or die. Doesn't happen very often, I'll sort this out later too. For the time being we'll say the bowling lanes are haunted and so it's a 'game feature' (TM). If you want to blame anyone for this mod you can look in the direction of Enjay and Stuart. Enjay informed me about the 'rip' bit during the playtesting of Doom Raider and this made boulders possible. Stuart produced many many different boulder graphics when I asked him to do one for Doom Raider and these lead me to build this mod. So it's their fault, not mine! I'm an innocent bystander :) This works fine with ZDoom 63a.cab. Due to a possible bug in ZDoom (?) I had to script my own armour effect. DamageThing was ignoring armourbonuses provided using GiveInventory. So if you're using a version of ZDoom later than 63a, and the armour isn't behaving as you would expect, it may be that Randy has sorted this bug and it's now conflicting with my script. -Russell Pearson (22nd September 2004) email: rddp@duellist.net (put 'DOOM' in the subject title or your email may be accidently deleted as spam).
