Some life huh? Unbeknownst your kicking back, some dope left an extra space shuttle out on one of the moons over Mars with the keys to ignition - complete with a space license, registration and a car freshener hanging over the rear view mirror (question: what's a space shuttle doing with a rear view mirror!?) and seeing you barely escaped with your own life, there remained several small legions of demons that want nothing less than to tear large holes in your sofa and possibly end your life in the process. So now they make their descent for vengeance right above your condo - and right when you were ready to kick back in your snuggie and watch some soap operas... It's a good thing you cleared out some space in your home for your weapons recently, as it looks like it's going to be a rough and familiar road ahead... --- MAP01: Alacima Music: On Fire midi by Switchfoot Based on the third home we stayed in when living in Oceanside, California. It was a gated condo community with some really nice views and a swimming pool area (not included in the level unfortunately). I decided to cut out a photo of a tree I took at a park nearby this area and use that as a replacement for the large brown tree. I'm surprised how much the level feels like taking a time warp to a simpler time in my life, as it's virtually as close to memory as I could replicate it within the confines of Doom Builder 2. MAP02: Impresa Music: Listen To Your Heart midi by Roxette Based on an old school and park I went to growing up. Decided to populate the area with an absurd amount of monsters due to the fact that this place is usually pretty crowded with lots of activity, so I felt that was what captured revisiting this place (only it's a lot safer in reality). Kinda wish I would re-create the nearby park area with the blue building but I decided to settle for the school area and parking lot/neighborhood. MAP03: Sanctified Music: Everything You Want midi by Vertical Horizon Originally I was only going to make MAP01 and call it a day, but I liked the sky texture enough to make MAP02 and decide to make an original level to go along with them. This MAP03 isn't based on any real places I've been but I wanted to make something as inspired by some nice architecture blogs I follow on Tumblr and make some nice-looking areas in general. I really love the end result of this map and makes for another nice hectic-affair of being a DOOMed marine in paradise. MAP04: End Music: Someday We'll Know midi by Mandy Moore and Jonathan Foreman Just a closer map after your long voyage to secure Oceanside, California from demon-spawn. Now you can sit at home and relax and watch romance movies and admire your weapons collection brooding over your past success. As a bonus, you brought home an undead imp you captured and took home with you as a pet - it makes for a good stress-relief when you can take your anger-manegement out on an imp that refuses to stay dead. Everybody wins. Title screen music: Almost Unreal midi by Roxette Intermission music: Zero's theme midi from Mega Man X2 as covered by Jarel Jones at vgmusic.com. For an even more in-depth experience, listen to the actual songs while playing the levels. It amuses me. * Copyright / Permissions * This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.
