May Not Run With... : Ports with no DeHackEd support ============================================================================= * Notes - Installation/usage * If you are using a source port that reads DeHackEd lumps from inside wads (ZDoom for example), all you need to do is run impatak.wad. For other ports you'll need to separately load the DeHackEd stuff using the impatak.deh file included in the vanilla.zip. To install Imp Atak for vanilla Doom2, unzip vanilla.zip contents to the directory where your doom2.exe and doom2.wad are located and run vanilla.bat. After the setup is complete, you can delete the install files (dehacked.exe, deusf.exe & vanilla.bat). * Notes - Basics * For starters, forget about rushing to the exit, reaching it IS NOT your main goal here. Instead your objective is similiar to DM: the amount of enemies you kill is what matters here the most. Never the less, you'll still have to make it to the exit alive too - your kills score is worth nothing until it's displayed on the intermission screen upon level exit. What you are up against is a steadily growing, endless imp horde consisting of 3 different imp races. A short description of each: Lesser Imp: Runs fast but has only 30 HP. No fireball attack. Normal Imp: The classic Doom imp without the fireball attack. Dark Imp : A slow but strong imp variant. Does a large amount of damage with it's scratches. Has 170 HP. No fireball attack. Each imp you gun down adds one % to your kills statistic (having 20% kills would mean 20 killed imps for example). * Notes - Weapons & ammunition * All the weapons (apart from the chainsaw, which is unavailable in Imp Atak) are stored in one place, the Armory. The Armory's doors are locked and can only be opened using other of the two small control panels found in the Control Center. If there's no one at the Control Center to open the doors for you after you are inside, you'll have to lower either one of the basement's lifts, flip the basement's door control switch, get on the lift & quickly make your way out of the Armory doors before they close. The fist has been disabled and the chainsaw is not available, so ALWAYS make sure you have ammo for your firearms. The amount of ammo you can carry in Imp Atak is strictly limited & you'll have to pick up ammunition more often than usual. Most of the ammo available in Imp Atak is stored in ammo dispensers, of which each contains 5 (8 in multiplayer) full refills for a certain ammo type. * Notes - Demos * All Imp Atak demos must be recorded using the original (DeHackEd modified) Doom executable/engine v1.9 or a source port capable of recording demos 100% compatible with it. TAS demos are not allowed. You can submit your demos either at Doomworld forums' demo section or by simply sending your demo straight to me via email. The top10 Imp Atak single player demos will soon be up at http://www.kolumbus.fi/janiz/doom/mystuff/impatak/ and possibly at the DW's demo forum too. * Notes - Influences * - Aliens vs. Predator (& the Stranded-level) http://www.rebellion.co.uk/games-avp-index.html - Phobia II http://www.megagames.com/news/html/freegames/phobiaiiv102.shtml - Rick Clark's survival.wad http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=10764 ============================================================================= * Copyright / Permissions * Authors MAY use the contents of this file as a base for modification or reuse as long as you give the original authors credit.
