! REQUIRES BOOM OR A BOOM-COMPATIBLE SOURCE PORT ! ---------------------------------------------------------------- * File Information * ---------------------------------------------------------------- Date : June 20th 2001 Title : Castle Of Eternal Carrot In The Sky Filename : coecits.zip | .wad | .txt Author : Fredrik Johansson Email Address : fredrik@doom.tc WWW : www.doomworld.com/fredrik Misc. Author Info : 15 year old swede Other work by author : Vrack, Vrack2, PAIN, Plutonia2 and more... Description : The background to this level is weird... just like the level itself. I had a dream about a very weird Doom level, and when I woke up I remembered the level almost exactly. I couldn't resist building the thing, and here it is... :) As I said, this is almost exactly like in the dream, but I had to make some changes because of engine limits (no RoR etc), design improvements and input from the testers. Story : Bah :P Additional Credits : All the people who tested the level, with special thanks to: * Opulent * Chrozoron, the norwegian beotch * Adam Hegyi, god of Doom * Adam Williamson, also god of Doom * Cocoon * Ebola * Tarin * Maonth, because if I don't give him credit, he'll be pissed. * All you who didn't get credit And of course id for Doom, SBSoftware for DeepSea and the authors of the other tools i used. Thanks also goes to Simon "Fraggle" Howard for indirectly inspiring me to the title of this WAD. Mewse. And of course Doomworld. ---------------------------------------------------------------- * Play Information * ---------------------------------------------------------------- System requirements : Runs in a playable state on my PII 300 w/ 64MB RAM. I recommend playing this level in 320x200 with no other programs running. Heheh =) Executable : Boom 2.02 or compatible May not run with... : You're welcome to try with doom2.exe. Episode and Level # : Doom2 Map01 Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-8 Player : Yeah... but you will probably get trouble with the faked 3D bridges... Deathmatch 2-8 Player : Supported... but same problem as for cooperative. I wonder if this level wouldn't be fun with ZDoom and flymode? =D Difficulty Settings : Yes (skill 1 = easy, skill 4 = mayhem ;), skill 5 = Anders Johnsen's playground) New Music : Yep... composed by yours truly. Title music: "Ruska" Level music: "Castle of Eternal Carrot" Intermission music: "Knight of Waffle" New Sounds : No New Graphics : A few texture mods + sky from Evilution. New titlepic, interpic and credit screen. ---------------------------------------------------------------- * Construction * ---------------------------------------------------------------- Base : New level from scratch, my weird dreaming 5k1llz0rz Build Time : Approx. 10 hours, testing and fixing excluded, maybe 25 total (Yeah, it takes time. And I must have spent 10 hours just running around in the level when being bored. But hey, that's fun :) Editors used : DeepSea 10.20b dammit :) WinTex for WAD editing XWE for WAD editing Known Bugs : Yes, the following bugs are known: * Horizontal streaks in the sky (because of a rendering bug in Doom that prevents you from setting up double skies.) Unfixable. * Vertical streaks in the sky (aka slime trails. bad, bad, bad). * Sound bug when passing a silent teleporter (afaik unfixable) * Eventual visual bug with invuln/idbeholdl or very high gamma level when using silent teleporter (could be fixed, but who cares? =) * Very rarely, invisible ceilings caused problems in beta versions. Should be fixed. * Lags (Solution: upgrade yo comp). ---------------------------------------------------------------- * Copyright / Permissions * ---------------------------------------------------------------- Authors MAY NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels. You may however use the included graphics in a way which you think is appropriate. The music included is my work and dnamit won't you touch it. Like someone would have a use for it anyway :) You MAY distribute this WAD, provided you include this file, with no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file intact. ---------------------------------------------------------------- * Secret * ---------------------------------------------------------------- Hint : OK, I shouldn't have to give any hints in the txt file, but anyway; Don't waste ammo on the cyberdemons, try to find a more crushing way to kill them...
