================================================================ Title : Power Plant Filename : ds1v3i.WAD and ds1v3ii.wad Author : David J. E. Simmonds Email Address : SIMMONDS@camail.ca.nmp.nokia.com Misc. Author Info : RF Engineer for Nokia Mobile Phones UK This my first level and it took far too long! Description : This is a big level designed for Single Player and Deathmatch, with an emphasis on design and appearance. The idea for this level derived from the film Soylent Green and is of a processing plant that crushes humans and monsters into pulp, then mixes with a natural blue liquid to give a green liquid energy source. The green liquid is then used to make Soul and Invulnerabilty spheres and drive an electric generator. Your goal should be to open the three doors leading to a big arsenal and collect the weapons and spheres. The door switches are concealed in various areas but all marked with a particular Thing. To get the spheres you have to lower them by operating switches in the Control room in a particular order, there are two choices and only one chance. But beware, each door of the arsenal is guarded by a Baron and collecting the spheres will cause an army of monsters to be released. The Control room also contains an exit switch which enables the exit teleport. It is possible to bypass certain areas by slumming it in the blood and nukage rivers, but the cost is Health and fewer weapons. These rivers have telporters marked by blue lights to get back to GND level. The starting room contains teleports to areas throughout the level, but exits are barred by doors which have to be opened from the oposite sides. In single player mode these provide a preview of some areas and later a means of rapid movement. The teleport room is primarily for DEATHMATCH mode where rapid access to weapons is provided, as well as rapid movement. In order, a description of areas is; Teleport room start, leading to Customs area with side door to Interogation room. Long corridor with viewing windows to all three big open areas. Chaingun and ammo in well guarded room off corridor. Lift down to open area 1, which has access to Crushing plant, Imps' Church (Rocket Launcher) and Arsenal. Red door to open area 2 which has liquid Mixing plant and access to hidden Plasma gun in Wood building. Blue door to open area 3 via shooting gallery (you are the target !), contains towers with sphere maker and generator. Stone buiding with yellow key and goodies. Elevator up to Control room which has switches for exit enable, spheres and opening full length of viewing corridor. Hint, observe location of dead bodies for possible trouble ahead. ds1v3.zip should contain the following files; ds1v3.txt - what you're reading now ds1v3i.wad - pwad file for original DOOM ds1v3ii.wad - pwad file for DOOM II Version history ds1v1 - Original version ds1v2 - Control room altered; switches for spheres did not work as intended and exit enable switch changed.
